Abstract
In a situation where basic income is being discussed at the actual institutional level, the purpose of this study is to understand the general public¡¯s attitude of basic income and to analyze the factors that can influence its pros and cons. Individual economic and social characteristics, welfare attitudes, and work ethic were considered as factors that could influence the pros and cons of basic income. For the analysis, an online survey was conducted for 7 days from June to July 2020, and the causal relationship of variables was analyzed through binary logistic regression analysis. As a result of the analysis, significant results were confirmed in political stance, subjective income level, welfare attitude, and work ethic. First, in terms of political stance, moderates rather than conservatives and liberals rather than conservatives tended to support basic income. Next, it was found that the group who responded that their subjective income level was stable was more likely to not support basic income than the group who responded that their income level was very difficult. Finally, it was confirmed that the more important the normative value of work was, the lower the likelihood of supporting a basic income. Through this study, the topography of the psychological feasibility of basic income in Korean society was identified and the points to be considered to ultimately increase the political feasibility were discussed.
